Pretty weak. ABC obviously cut the superfluous “uhs” to save valuable air time, as is done commonly in sound bites. If they were playing the entire interview and cut only that one section, that would be different, but this looks an instance where the network desired a short, utiliarian clip. I sure you could find a hundred similar incidents where an unecessary line or pause was removed in a news story.

That’s why I said it wasn’t surprising. I’m sure networks edit anyone who has awkward pauses in their speech when the they are trying to fashion a quick sound byte. It does, however, make one wonder what else media outlets might edit out for convenience.
