It already has. I work overseas for a college system and getting students to take traditional classroom courses is next to impossible. The students are flocking to the distance learning courses taught via e-learning. The students have more flexibility, as does the instructor. The major drawback I see is the interaction with other students to get a useful discussion going based on each person’s experience. I see the future of education going to nearly all e-learning at some point. Even high school courses can be achieved this way.
